Bankruptcy court hearing videos - what to expect at a hearing

If you file for bankruptcy you might have to appear in court depending on what chapter you file under or due to special circumstances regarding your case. If you file under chapter 13 you might talk to a judge, if just to confirm your filing. If you are filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy you will typically not have to appear in a hearing unless objections are raised about your case or if there is a reaffirmation hearing. Most people do not know what to expect in a real court hearing but I found this video showing a bankruptcy hearing, quite informative.

One thing to remember before you go into court is to be prepared, judges do not like unprepared people and it is best to make a good impression as the judge have lots of influence over how to view your bankruptcy case. Needless to say a court hearing is a serious business so prepare accordingly and do not be surprised if one or several of your creditors also are there, good luck.
